DO SOMETHING NICE THURSDAY

Happy Thursday Everyone:)  Today I thought I would share one of my fun ideas with you. When I hear the neighborhood kids playing outside after school I like to take them warm cookies.  To make this easy..I just keep homemade cookies or Costco's cookies on hand in my Freezer, pull them out, warm them up.  So easy and the kids love them:)

Do you have any fun, easy ideas like this? Do Share:)

DO SOMETHING NICE THURSDAY

I have to say this picture made me cry.....Yet, I was comforted to know that the power of kindness no matter how small is truly the greatest gift of all and never goes unnoticed by God!

"I hope you Hug someone today:)"

DO SOMETHING NICE THURSDAY

Make two crumbles
Keep one for you
Give one away
Share the love

This is the inaugural Share The Love day, a day for delicious. readers and others to share the results of their baking talents with neighbours, friends – even strangers.
It’s about spreading some much-needed good cheer, and fostering community spirit in the process.
To be part of Share The Love on the fourth Saturday of September – peak British apple season – just bake two apple crumbles instead of one. Keep one to eat and pass the other on to someone you don’t know, someone you wish you knew better or someone who needs cheering up.
Spread the deliciousness beyond your own home, remembering that what goes around, comes around.

You can find out more over at  Delicious.

Blessings,
Lisa

DO SOMETHING NICE THURSDAY

Today...I wanted to share something that would put a smile on your face, So Sweet ....

He had just saved her from a fire in her house, rescuing her by carrying her out of the house into her front yard, while he continued to fight the fire. She is pregnant. The firefighter was afraid of her at first, because he had never been around a Doberman before. When he finally got done putting the fire out, he sat down to catch his breath and rest. A photographer from the Charlotte, North Carolina newspaper, “The Observer,” noticed this red Doberman in the distance looking at the fireman. He saw her walking straight toward the fireman and wondered what she was going to do. As he raised his camera, she came up to the tired man who had saved her life and the lives of her babies, and kissed him, just as the photographer snapped this photograph:)

Happy Thursday and have hope... for nice things do still happen!

Blessings,
Lisa

Do Something Nice Thursday

While picking up supplies at the Crafts Store the other day ...I was chatting with a young girl who wanted to take up scrap booking.  We were talking about how expensive it was to scrapbook and that she would have to pay for her supplies from the money she could earn from babysitting, when she was lucky enough to get a job.  I started sharing with her other ways she could earn some extra money.. Keeping an eye on her neighbors dogs when they went out of down...walking the dogs, feeding the dogs, brushing the dog. If they do not have animals she could offer to water their gardens while they where gone. Or she could wash their cars when needed.   All she ever thought she could do was babysit....So, It was fun to share these other options with her.

So, to help her out...I told her to hand write..."YES, Hand Write"  a one page letter ...to share with her neighbors...Write a little about herself...Her hobby's, what she likes about school...etc...and she could tape it to their front doors, or drop it into their mail boxes....this of course being done "Only, after she spoke with her parents and they had agreed upon what neighbors she give her letters too!"
Anyhow....here is my idea for this Thursday...If you know of a young person who is wanted to make some extra income....share these idea with them and any others that you might think of....it's just another way of helping the light bulb turn on in their heads:)

Do Something Nice Thursday....

Today,  I was thinking about all the times my mom needed help with her computer and had to she patiently waited till one of her darling kids had time to run by and see if we could help her out.  When I first started using my computer I was very lucky to have both my kids around.  Not to mention they ran with glee, each time I yelled ...O, NO!!!

Well, I owe what I do know to them.  They helped teach, show and fix all things computer in our home...not to mention my being Dyslexic ..but, that's another post...:)

So, I had this idea...Think of someone you know. Could be someone who is older, who maybe can not get out and about much. Their only link to others is through their computer. Maybe, they are having some computer problems...no one to turn to for help. Well, that is where you could check in and say...How's your computer working these day's?  Not to mention you could introduce them to a lot of fun, playing computer games or just really help them overcome being lonely.  I think my mom now has more FB friends then I do...thanks to those games:)  Or, maybe you know a child in school who is needing some help learning how to get around on the computer..School Reports ..Homework..Games...Facebook,  Hey..."Good opportunity to share computer safety with a young one"

Well, you get the idea...I bet we each know someone.. who would love to get to know their computer a little better... or,  maybe just be able to turn it on again...:)

Blessings...Lisa

Do Something Nice Thursday....

I started   "Do Something Nice Thursdays"  in hopes it would bring back the good ole days. The days of helping others and in doing so, maybe taking the focus off of the things we can't control in the world today.  So many of us are split on our political views, what we eat, do and don't do, on and on.  That I thought it would be inspiring to bring back some good deeds..and in doing so, bring back the vision, I believe God intended us to share in!

I was raised in a time where we said ...Thank You and Please.  Men opened the door for women and women did not laugh or look at them like they were expecting a tip.  If you saw an elder crossing the street or carrying a heavy bag...you would help them.  If you saw someone crying you would ask if they were Ok.  If a child was lost...you could safely help them, without someone thinking you where the problem. Well, I think you get the picture...no, not the one that I am old:)    I am a little old fashion,  Ok, a lot!   And, yes.. I am half way there in age...but, I still believe there is hope, that the good deeds we take the time to invest in..will not only help others..."much more then we know at this present time."  But, will also help us!  I trust, it will help us to remember what it feels like to make someone smile. To see what hope looks like on another persons face.  To see surprise put back in the scared and hopeless face of a child....I think you get the picture....

So, I hope you will join me on this.  ."Do Something Nice Thursday!"  And in doing so...find that all hope is not lost:)

This Thursday I want to share how I have been going through my adult kids stuff..."not their beloved stuff!"  But, the stuff that has been laying around in storage boxes, ..sorting, rearranging.. some of these items I have chosen to share with the homeless kids....the ones that are now living in their cars, not in their homes!!!

Yes, its true....times are that hard!  So, I took my kids used backpacks. I had three, still in good condition. I just gave them a bath, filled them with deodorant...shampoo, school supplies, snacks... and handed them out.  A lot of these kids will be starting school soon....they will attend with no school supplies....heck...they don't even have their own private space anymore...so, a backpack is the only thing at the moment that they can view as theirs, only theirs. This is consider.."A hand up, not a hand out!" They can still start school with some pride...and have what the other kids have...at least on campus:)

So, here is the great news....you can do this too! Its easy!  If you do not have time to put a backpack together yourself...just click here....."Feed the Children"  for $20.00 they will see that a child gets "a hand up not a hand out" and you can help keep them in school.

I hope this touches your heart and puts a smile on your face:)  Wishing you a very blessed Thursday and I would love to hear about your Thursday adventure!!!

Blessings,
Lisa
